In the beginning of Spiritual Emphasis Week, I didn’t know what to think of the speaker, C. J. Hitz from Media Talk 101.  I thought he was OK.  He didn’t really help me think until the second day.  Some of the statistics really made me think.  What music do I listen?  How much time do I spend on the computer and TV?  The answers weren’t that good.  I spent almost half my day on the computer from when I got home from school to when I went to bed.  I know I spend much less time on the computer now.  The amount of television I watched was about the same.  I did take a second look at some of the things I watched and the music I listened to.  It really made me think.  On Thursday of Spiritual Emphasis Week, we had the boys and the girls split into different groups.  This day impacted me the most.

I was very excited for Thursday.  I know we were talking about true beauty and how we can be modest and choose the right media to watch and listen to at home.  Her story was amazing.  All the things Shelly went through, from when she was a girl, until now, were pretty hard to hear.  She said she would try to find fulfillment in different things but the only thing that fully satisfied her was God.   She helped me understand that it really doesn’t matter what people think of us.  What we see in the magazines are changed so much.  I now think true beauty comes from the inside and shows on the outside.  Spiritual Emphasis Week really helped me as a Christian and as a teenager.  I would love to have this Spiritual Emphasis Week again.

Spiritual Emphasis Week was when the middle school and high school got together for a week of chapel.  In chapel we grew our relationship with God and worshiped Him.  During Spiritual Emphasis Week we had a guest speaker to lead chapel.  The guest speaker was CJ Hitz, from Media Talk 101.  He was a Christian speaker who traveled to different places to teach us about our media choices.  CJ taught us that our media choices we make, teach us lessons, so we should choose positive ones.  Also, he taught us that we should treat each other realizing that we each are someone’s future husband or wife.

I really enjoyed Spiritual Emphasis Week, and I think it improved the way we treat each other.  I have enjoyed all the guest speakers this school year but I have liked this one the best because it applied more to us than the other ones.  Also, I liked it because it helped us really understand that media choices do make a difference in our lives, and make us a better person by listening to positive things.  I think that if we spread what we learned from CJ, the world would be a better place.  Also, I hope we all never forget the message CJ brought to Grace Academy, because it will help us more and more in our lives.

Our speaker for Spiritual Emphasis week was C.J. Hitz from Media Talk 101.  He talked about our media choices and how we are so caught up in all of the media.  We need to guard our hearts with what we listen to because if you don’t, it will become what you think about.  On Thursday, Shelly Hitz talked to the girls while C.J. Hitz talked to the boys.  The girls session was about how all the girls want to be called beautiful by a guy they like and how we want to impress the guys that we know in our life.

I liked what both Shelly and C.J. Hitz had to say.  When we listen to music, I think we need to know the message of the song.  I like that what Shelly had to say really related to my life.  In some way, her testimony relates to all girls because we all want some guy to like us and tell us we are beautiful, but we need to put God first.  God is the ultimate judge which means we need to get to know others and watch our actions.  Like C.J. said it’s easy to get caught up in the media.  It is easy but not if we ask God for help.
